Almost Spring..

And that makes me very happy.  I saw my first robin yesterday and I knew right then and there that this awful winter is almost at an end.

You know, it really has been an awful winter.  I have been housebound for a good deal of the winter and I had to clean the snow off my car so many times that I lost count.

This winter has tumbled many records for us here in central Illinois.  The snowiest winter, the most below zero temperatures, etc.  The list goes on and on.  The most days where school was cancelled and last but not least the most pot holes.  Smile

I have fought depression ever since the tornado on November 17th.  I do know that SAD played a big part in this.

Seasonal affective disorder (also called SAD) is a type of depression that occurs at the same time every year. If you're like most people with seasonal affective disorder, your symptoms start in the fall and may continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. Less often, seasonal affective disorder causes depression in the spring or early summer.

Treatment for seasonal affective disorder includes light therapy (phototherapy), psychotherapy and medications. Don't brush off that yearly feeling as simply a case of the "winter blues" or a seasonal funk that you have to tough out on your own. Take steps to keep your mood and motivation steady throughout the year.

There is a lot of sickness in my family now and I have been worried and depressed about that.  My brother, brother in law and niece are all fighting serious health problems.  I am trying really hard to be positive.

Stay safe and be happy!!

  5. Darn it! All that typing and it dropped the darn comment again. Ok, one more time~~~~
I'd forgotten you had this blog as well as the other and then something pinged in my head a little while ago to jog my memory. I came straight over and read the entire thing so I could catch up. Beth, I am breathing a sigh of relief and so happy that you are really on the path to recovery now and that you can even taste some foods! Oh, it's wonderful news! But I tell ya, when you said that there were health problems going on for your family, it really made me wonder what's going on lately --- I mean it seems to be with everyone, my friends, their friends, and now here, too, and it's been for almost all of 2013 and rolling into 2014. Very strange. But....what goes down must come back up, right? If I don't think about it like that, I think I'd just give up. It will get better, I'm sure of it. Ohhhhh, btw, Lucy meow's hello to her favorite Aunt Beth ;) Not to be outdone, Sam has put his 2 cents in, too. He's waving. Sam is now 10 and Lucy is 9. Time has flown.
I've got THIS page bookmarked as well as the other. No idea why I can't get a "follow" to work. Will see you again soon :D Much love sent. Now look up at the sky and notice it's changing from that Winter look to the bright Spring look. Yesssirrreeeeee! xoxoxo
